Closing your CreditStrong account does not remove your payment history from your credit report. If your account had late payments, those may continue to appear on your credit report even after the account is closed.
Once an account is closed, we do not report new late payments, as long as all required final payments have been made and there is no remaining balance. However, if your account is past due at the time it is closed, that past‑due status can still be reported to the credit bureaus.
Credit activity is typically reported on a monthly basis, meaning each month’s payment status (current or past due) is usually sent to the credit bureaus in the following month. There can also be a delay between when CreditStrong sends information and when it appears on your credit report, since each credit bureau updates accounts on its own timeline.
Closing an account while it is past due, even if a late payment hasn’t appeared on your credit report yet, may not prevent that late payment from being reported.
To help protect your credit, you may want to bring your account current before closing, if you’re able to do so.
Please note: CreditStrong provides information to the credit bureaus, but the bureaus control how and when that information appears on your credit report.
